Most people have items of good clothing which they never use. The clothes are stored in closets or attics and eventually are thrown in the trash and dumped into landfills. Planet Aid tackles this problem right in your community by recycling and reusing the clothes. We collect the used clothing, keep it out of the landfills and thus help towns and municipalities to save money and resources.
Planet Aid collects and recycles used clothing and shoes in 19 states in the USA. Items donated to Planet Aid are resold and the proceeds are used to support education, community development and HIV/AIDS programs in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We partner with individuals, schools, organizations, companies and government agencies to inform about and contribute to community based development.
Planet Aid is a member of the International Humana People to People Movement and supports an array of projects operated by member organizations in Africa and Asia. The International Humana People to People movement has 30 national member organizations, uniting more than 150 Projects in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. Some member organizations operate income generating projects, often related to collecting and re-selling clothing donations. Other members operate development projects, such as schools, teacher training, Child Aid, AIDS prevention, farming and other types of community development. All in all, 500,000 people are involved in the projects on a daily basis.
THE PLANET AID DROP BOX WILL BE SET UP IN THE FARM STORE PARKING AREA JUNE 2010.
